Dr. Elena Kosterina is the MA in Psychology Program Director and an Associate Professor in the Psychology department and MA in Psychology Program at the American University of Central Asia. She holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Boston (2016, USA), an MA in Gender Studies from Central European University (2009, Hungary), and a BA in Psychology with honors (magna cum laude) from the American University of Central Asia (2008, Kyrgyzstan). 

Dr. Kosterina joined AUCA in 2016 as a Staff Psychologist at the Institute for Behavioral Health (IBH) and became an Associate Professor in the Psychology department in 2018. She has been a Counseling Psychologist in Private Practice since 2016 and attended the Mindfulness-based Counseling and Psychotherapy Professional Development Seminar of the Psychology Division at the Harvard Medical School (2014-2015), a continuing education seminar on Treating Couples at the Department of Psychiatry from Harvard Medical School (2014), the CBT for Psychosis Workshop for the team of Recovery in Shared Environment (RISE) Clinic at the Harvard Medical School (2015), and the Using Genograms in Family Therapy Workshop at AUCA (2011). 

Dr. Kosterina is a member of the American Psychological Association (2012-2018).
