Transferring to the Sociology Department at AUCA

 

To transfer to sociology department, students must:

• Meet all admission requirements of the receiving department;
• Obtain approval from both the current and receiving Department Chairs;
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.7;

• Complete “General Sociology for Non-Sociologists” or “Introduction to Sociology I or II” with a grade of B+ or higher. If these courses have not been completed before the transfer, students may complete them after transferring.

If admission exams from the previous program are equivalent, they may be accepted. Otherwise, students may be required to retake entrance exams. Any exceptions or waivers must be approved by the Program Chair and the Vice President/Chief Operating Officer.

 

Students are encouraged to start taking courses related to their intended major during the second semester of their first year.

All transfer applications must be submitted before the start of the semester.
