Major Requirements
Welcome to the Department of Psychology! We are excited to have you as part of our community of learners and future professionals who are passionate about understanding the human mind and contributing to healthier individuals and societies.
The Psychology program is designed to give students a solid foundation in the field, while also allowing flexibility through electives and internships. Students must complete all Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree requirements, including the core courses, minimum credits in each cluster, as well as the General Education requirements.
This guide outlines all the components you need to complete: from core courses and general education to internships, electives. Use it as a roadmap to plan your studies and track your progress each semester.
Graduation requirements:
- Earn at least 243 credits
- Complete all General Education requirements
- To earn an overall GPA of at least 2.0.
- Earn no more than 102 credits of introductory (100-level) courses
- Complete at least 18 elective credits outside of a student’s major and General Education program
- Complete the required number of internship credits (12 credits - Practical Internship, 3 credits - Observational Internship)
- Pass all state graduation examinations
- Successfully complete and defend a senior thesis/project;
- Receive no "F" or "N/P" grades in the final semester.
- General Education Courses – 98 credits
- Required Major Courses – 51 credits
- Elective courses OUTSIDE of major – 40 credits
- Elective Courses – 54 credits.
