Gulnara Kurmanova is a PhD (Candidate of Science) in Biology, a specialist in human genetics, and an Associate Professor in the Psychology department at the American University of Central Asia. Her PhD was awarded by the Cytology and Genetics Institution of the Siberian Department of the USSR Academy of Science (1992, Russia), and was recognized by the Swedish State University and High School Council in 2018. 

Dr. Kurmanova joined AUCA in 2000 and, after a break, she returned to teaching in 2021. She is the author of two textbooks: Healthy Lifestyle and Concepts of Modern Natural Science. She is also the author of more than 20 scientific papers, including those published in internationally recognized scientific journals in Cambridge, UK, and presented at international conferences. In addition to her scientific and pedagogical activities, Gulnara Kurmanova has extensive experience in international politics and public activities, having been a member of the UNAIDS and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria Boards for several years.
