AUCA faculty visit Bard College
AUCA faculty Medet Tiulegenov (ICP), Görkem Atsungur (ES) and Saniia Toktogazieva (IBL) were invited to visit Bard College on January 31 – February 7, 2016. They participated in two Human Rights workshops hosted by the Center for Civic Engagement of Bard College, New York.

AUCA students visit the Bishkek Water Museum
On March 11, 2016, students in the Environmental Management and Sustainable Development program (EMSD) visited the Bishkek Water Museum. Students saw old (but still effective) techniques for water management in Kyrgyzstan, renewable technologies related to hydro and solar power.

Everything about applying for a SILC grant
The members of the Student Intellectual Life Committee (SILC) at the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) told about their work to an audience of students. The SILC members gave advice on how to write applications for SILC grants, pointed out common application mistakes, reminded applicants of what is mandatory and important for applying for a SILC grant, and provided information on what grant-winners must provide after returning to AUCA.

Tanya Efremenko, alumna of class of 2015
Tanya Efremenko, a graduate of the Anthropology Department of class of 2015, has done several research projects, internships and service projects with organizations like HelpAge International, GIZ, UNESCO and B’Art Contemporary. She is now completing a Master’s Program in Urban Studies in Vienna.

Representatives from the U.S. Department of State in Kabul at AUCA
March 2 and 3, 2016, two representatives from the U.S. Department of State in Kabul, Grants Program Specialist Lynn Walroth and Cultural Affairs Assistant Janet Thompson, visited AUCA. The goal of their visit was to checkup on existing policies and discuss ideas for the future of the partnership.

On March 4th, 2016, AUCA President Andrew Wachtel received an Honorary Professorship from the Kyrgyz National University. Memorandum of cooperation between universities signed.
