A new, very useful book has appeared on the shelves of the AUCA library - “Republican Mathematical Olympiads 2020-21 and 2021-22. Tasks and Solutions." It was written by a team of authors, which includes AUCA professors S. K. Kydyraliev, E. S. Burova, and A. A. Doolotova. The book will be useful for everyone, but primarily for students in grades 6-11 who are preparing to participate in mathematical Olympiads.
In the preface to the book, it is said that “Mathematics appeared simultaneously with the appearance of Homo sapiens. It was actively used and continues to be used in agriculture, construction, and trade ... This is due to the fact that, as the great scientist Galileo Galilei put it: "The Book of Nature is written in the language of mathematics." Over time, the importance of mathematics in human society only increases. Continuing to be the main scientific tool in physics, chemistry, engineering, mathematics is becoming more and more necessary for economists, sociologists, and other scientists. Therefore, in order to be successful in today's world, it is desirable to be on a first-name basis with mathematics.
Mathematical Olympiads play an important role in the dissemination and popularization of mathematical knowledge. Of course, to achieve high results in mathematical Olympiads, you need to have the appropriate abilities. But not of lesser importance are good preparation, and regular math classes, which include both solving standard problems from the school course, and non-standard, Olympiad problems. We are confident that solving problems from this book will help you improve your knowledge and successfully perform at future olympiads.
It should be noted that, unlike conventional textbooks and manuals, the tasks in this book are arranged in the order in which they were offered at the Olympiad, and not in order of increasing complexity. Therefore, you may not be able to solve some problems for the seventh grade the first time, but simultaneously you will be able to conquer a problem for the ninth grade. If you fail, don't give up right away! As they say, a journey of a thousand kilometers begins with the first step. The main things are desire and perseverance. Of course, you will need to work, but the result is worth it - you will become the owner of “good” brains."
In conclusion, let us once again emphasize the usefulness of the book. According to the authors, most of the Olympiad tasks from the book, unlike many other materials of a similar nature, are not too tough for students in regular schools.
