RASHID IVAEV

Treasurer

Rasid Ivaev ECO-101

Current employment: Microsoft, Business Development Manager for Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

Why have you decided to join AUCA Alumni Council?

-In one sentence - I joined Alumni Council to help transforming it to be an effective and supportive body within University. When I joined Council a year ago, I realized that it did not function properly, from irregular meetings and missing members of the Council to vague overall goals of the Council to not being treated as a serious and relevant body within University. Together with majority of new Council members (graduates from 2001 to 2010 - 2012) we work to make sure it will achieve its main mission - support further alma mater development as well as keep University important, valuable and relevant to Alumni. This is primarily done through keeping close ties with University graduates and engaging them in joint activities for benefit of both University and Alumni. From personal standpoint, I would like to contribute my professional knowledge and experience in IT technologies to make sure Alumni Council utilized all innovative technologies to become more global, more transparent and more interactive organization.

What motivates you in your life both personal and professional?

-"Make the world the better place". Both in my personal and professional life, my ultimate goal is to deliver all possible personal contribution to help make the world better - from quality and organic food (hint, hint) to more convenient and faster resolution of people's issues.

As a member of the AUCA Alumni Council, how do you see the role of alumni in supporting AUCA?

-One of two parts of Alumni Council mission is to support further development of AUCA. It should be noted, however, that not the Alumni Council itself, but the whole alumni community it represents, is the one that can make a difference. It is very important that not only members of Alumni Council, but bigger alumni community shares their ideas and feedback, actively participate (financially or non-financially) to help AUCA grow further.

What role did AUCA play in your life?

-This is third or fourth time I am asked this question. And every time I answer it with different level of details or from different perspective. However, what remains constant part of the answer is that AUCA helped me to understand that opportunities are always there, but they are not brought to your doorstep and you have to go and get them. AUCA helped me raise the bar of things I can and I want to achieve in my life by providing high competitive and supporting environment. And AUCA proved that university is one of the best places to find a partner of your life.

What would you say to the AUCA alumni if you were to address them in a speech?

-Our common goal is, by means of University, as once we were supported by other donors, enthusiasts and volunteers, to help alma mater provide the same or even better level of education and support to raise next generation population that will eventually join all of us in building prosperous country, region, world.
