AUCA faculty took part in the international conference of the American Geophysical Union



On December 10-14, 2018, Dr. Zheenbek Kulenbekov and MSc. Baktyar Asanov attended the International Conference of American Geophysical Union (AGU) where they took part in the poster sessions in Hydrology and Geophysics as well as the AGU exhibition.

AUCA students took part in the geological field excursion to the Boom Gorge



On Sunday, November 25 the Department of Applied Geology organized the field excursion to Boom Gorge for students. This tour arranged by Rustam Orozbaev as a part of the practicum for the courses of General Geology, Structural Geology & Tectonics, and Mineralogy & Petrology. During the excursion, students were able to observe the geological outcrops of rocks in the field. They've learned how to use geological and topographic maps, GPS and geological compass, and described the structural relationships of various rock types. This type of practical field works greatly help students to strengthen their theoretical knowledge that they receive at the university.

AUCA students hiked out to the campsite and got to explore the glaciers


Looking out from the windows at AUCA, it’s impossible to miss the beauty of the Kyrgyz mountains with their stunning white glaciers sparkling in the sun. How much longer will we get to enjoy such views though? How are the glaciers of Kyrgyzstan going to be affected by the process of Global Climate Change?

AUCA students plunged into the wonderful world of minerals

In late November, the Applied Geology program organized an educational excursion for students to the Geological Museum. The excursion took place in the framework of consolidation of theoretical knowledge in the courses Mineralogy and Petrology, General Geology, and Structural Geology and Tectonics.

Department of EMSD and Applied Geology haveorganized a tour for AUCA students to the “Konorchek” canyon.The amazing landscapes of Konorchek canyons resemble the Grand Canyon in the USA, but at the same time they carry a significant particle of the unique nature of Kyrgyzstan.It's a fabulous place located in 125 km from Bishkek, in Boom gorge.Konorchek canyon is a mysterious land of intenselycolouredand textured formations of red sandstone. It's a wild and inspiring region.


AUCA students tour to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)

Department of EMSD and Applied Geology together with Mayrambek Nurgaziev have organized tour for AUCA students to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Currently, the JICA is making efforts to the organic farming development in Kyrgyzstan; therefore, the aim of this visit was to see practically Biogas, Green House, organic products and Composting usage.
