What are the criteria of the SIDP advisory commission when approving the project budgets?
The advisory commission evaluates the project’s general idea, the problem it aims to solve, and its budget. The preference is given to projects of students of non-graduating class (i.e., freshmen, sophomores, juniors) with the most justified and effective budgets. It is also an advantage if the expenses of the submitted projects are partially covered by its partners or the local community’s contribution.
How long does it take the advisory commission members to make a decision?
It takes them 5 days to decide. Even though the decision-making period is not very long, be aware that it is the money transfer that takes much longer, so plan accordingly with submitting your project package and setting the project time frame.
What is the process of receiving the funding if my project was approved?
To provide funding, the Program coordinator has to fill out the financial form and submit it to the AUCA financial office. Depending on the types of expenses your project has, you might have to provide documents, which are necessary to attach to this financial form. Therefore, plan in advance and apply early on so that you have funding when you need it.
Do I need to collect any documents when I spend money on something?
When you are about to buy something, it is your responsibility to make sure that all the valid financial documentation will be provided by the seller to you. It is a MUST to collect and keep all the financial documents when you are spending money on your project.
What if I spend less money than expected? Can I redirect the savings elsewhere?
If you spend less money than expected, and you can either redirect savings on other project expenses you might have (after consulting with the Program coordinator) or return the remaining money to AUCA in full amount.
How do I report on all the funds received from SIDP?
You must timely bring all valid financial documents confirming your project expenses. Depending on from who (a company/ a physical person) you are purchasing a good/ service, you might have to provide different types of documentation. To learn more, contact us.
