KYRGYZ

Assistant Professor Akmatova Asia Momunovna has been teaching Kyrgyz at the American University of Central Asia since 1995 and she is a native Kyrgyz speaker.  She holds a degree in Philology from the Kyrgyz National University and wrote her dissertation on how to compose Kyrgyz language textbooks for Russian speakers.  In the past, the instructor taught Kyrgyz to school children at the Borubash Secondary School in Issyk-Kul and was the editor for Kyrgyz Language and Literature academic materials at the “Mektep” Publishing House from 1980-1995.  The instructor has authored numerous texts, from Kyrgyz dictionaries for students of business, economics and law, to textbooks for learning Kyrgyz as a foreign language.  Akhmatova Momunovna has taught the language from a basic to advanced level.  In addition, she speaks Russian well and has a working knowledge of English.

Eleonora Amanbekovna Karypkulova is an assistant professor who has been teaching in the Kyrgyz language program at the American University of Central Asia since 1994 and she is a native speaker of Kyrgyz.   Having completed her undergraduate studies in philology at the Kyrgyz State University in 1984, Eleonora Amanbekovna continued her post-graduate studies in the same field.  She defended her dissertation—“Free Verse in Kyrgyz Poetry”—at the Kyrgyz Academy of Science in 2001.    Before working for AUCA the instructor taught the Theory of Literature at the Language Pedagogical Institute from 1986-1990.  Eleonora Amanbekovna has written two textbooks, is the author of several articles, and has participated in international conferences.  The instructor has a working knowledge of both Russian and English.
