INTERNSHIPS
An internship is a (required at AUCA before your Senior year) short-term work experience—typically during the summer or part-time during a semester—where you learn how a field or industry operates, contribute to real projects, build skills and connections. Internships can be paid (you have to pay) or unpaid and in-person, remote, or hybrid.
Internships matter because:
- you learn by doing, not just studying;
- you meet people who can refer or recommend you;
- they make your CV stand out.
To prepare for an internship as a freshman, you could: join clubs, volunteer, build a basic CV, visit the Career Development Center, and attend the AUCA Career Fair.
You can find an internship through: job postings, LinkedIn, professors and staff, student organizations with industry connections, &c.
Tip: during the internship, be punctual and reliable, take initiative, learn and observe, ask questions (try to solve things on your own first), and network.
