AUCA-Bard Summer Internship Program Students Arrived to Kyrgyzstan
AUCA is happy to host for the second time the AUCA-Bard Summer Internship Program participants this summer in Bishkek. The group arrived in Bishkek on June 11 and is quite diverse. Students from the US, China, Jamaica, and Vietnam represent not only Bard College – Annandale, but also Bard College – Berlin, the University of Vermont, University of Virginia, George Washington University, Tufts University, Swarthmore College, Sweet Briar College, Vassar College, and University of Hong Kong.

The American University of Central Asia’s New Generation Academy is seeking ESL specialists to teach English for Academic Purposes and TOEFL Test Preparation courses. A BA degree in humanities and a certification in TESOL/TEFL are required, an MA degree is preferred. University-level teaching experience is required.

AUCA Professor and her students collaborated on sociology research project with Otto-von-Guericke-University in Germany
Chair of General Education Department and professor of Sociology Department at AUCA, Galina Gorborukova, contributed to the publication of a research “When salary is not Enough… Private Households in Central Asia”. The book presents a cross-country, rural-urban comparison in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan based on secondary data and quantitative and qualitative primary research.

On 15th May 2015, the Anthropology Program organized the 6th Annual International Anthropology Conference "Great Game(s) in Central Asia and Beyond: Exploring International Regional Rivalry Using Cultural and Historical Lenses”. The conference has invited participants to explore the historical and contemporary geopolitics in Central Asia.

New AUCA donors to finance scholarships of students from Talas
Students from the Talas region will have their studies at AUCA sponsored by Talas Copper Gold and Andash Mining Company (AMC), a subsidiary of Robust Resources Singapore (TCG). The agreement, signed on May 15, shows businesses’ interests in investing in higher education of youth in Central Asia.

Students of Environmental Chemistry class tested water of Big Chui Canal
On 21st of April, students of Environmental Chemistry class went on an exciting field trip instead of the usual class lecture. In the Big Chui Canal, they collected water samples, identifying GPS coordination of the location.
