No longer a foreigner, but a Central Asian citizen
Originally from New Rochelle, NY, Neil is a 4th year university student majoring in International Relations and Russian with the focus on the former Soviet Union. It’s been almost a year since he arrived in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on the scholarship to study Central Asian Politics, Russian and Uzbek.

Anthropology Summer School in Issyk-Kul
The Anthropology Department of the American University of Central Asia together with the University of Tromso of Norway implemented the joint project “A Comparative Perspective on Cultural Ecology and Nomadic Life in Central Asia and Norway” in Kyrgyzstan’s “Akun Issyk - Kul” Resort, Kara-Oi village, from June 14 to 23, 2015.

First graduate of AUCA’s MA in Central Asian Studies
Ali Reza Yasa, of the 2014-2015 class, is the first graduate from the Master of Arts in Central Asian Studies (MACAS) program at AUCA’s Central Asian Studies Institute. Originally from Afghanistan, Yasa received his combined Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from American University of Afghanistan and Kateb University.

From June 23 to 25, 2015 a training on ‘Carbon Balance Appraisal of Agriculture Forestry and other Land Use’ (AFOLU) projects and policies was held at American University of Central Asia.

AUCA students from Afghanistan accepted to International Women's Leadership Program
Six AUCA students from Afghanistan were recently accepted for an International Women's Leadership Program known as Women2Women, which will take place in Boston (USA) on July 29 - August 8.

AUCA is now operational on new campus building
On June 29, 2015, the American University of Central Asia started to become functional on the new campus building is located in Micro-District 12 of Bishkek. The official opening ceremony is scheduled for October 31, 2015.

Karina Bobusheva, Presidential Scholar of 2015: "GPA reflects diligence, not intellectual abilities"
Karina Bobusheva recently graduated in business administration and completed a minor in psychology. Alike all presidential scholars of the graduating year 2014-15 in total - she has shown excellent, even outstanding, academic achievement during her study at AUCA by maintaining a GPA superior to 3.8 (out of 4).

Aizhamal Sydykova: "AUCA prepared me academically and socially for a year abroad"
As a participant of the Global UGRAD program, Aizhamal Sydykova, ICP-113, spent her academic year 2014-2015 at the Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colorado, U.S. She tells us about that year abroad, an internship she had at an energy company, and how she participated in the event in support of kids with cancer.

AUCA Psychology Department's alumna, Eleonnora Turdubaeva, has won the Best Student in Mental Health Counseling Award as she graduated from a Master's Program at the University of Massachusetts in Boston, USA. Eleonnora told us about her studies in the US, her life philosophy, and all the challenges she has faced aiming towards her dream.
