Dr. Melis Osmonov is an Associate Professor in the Software Engineering department at the American University of Central Asia. He holds his Candidate degree in computer science from the Computing Center of the Academy of Sciences of USSR (1978-1982, Moscow). He received his specialized degree in Electrical Engineering from Frunze Polytechnical Institute (now Kyrgyz State Technical University) in 1974.
After graduating from university, he worked at the Information and Computing Center of the Ministry of Food Industry of the Kyrgyz SSR in the computer maintenance department in the positions of engineer, senior engineer, machine manager, and bureau head. In 1978, he entered to targeted full-time postgraduate program at the Computing Center of the Academy of Sciences of USSR (Moscow). In January 1982, after completing his postgraduate program, he joined the Institute of Physics and Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz SSR (now the Institute of Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic), where he worked until 2006 in the positions of junior researcher, senior researcher, and head of the applied informatics laboratory.
Dr. Osmonov joined AUCA in 2003 as a part-time teacher in the Software Engineering department. From 2006 to 2014, he worked as the head of the Software Engineering department at AUCA. From 2014 to 2022 he worked at the International University of Central Asia as an Associate Professor, Head and Professor of the Information Technology department. Since 2017, he has been working as a part-time associate professor in the Applied Mathematics and Informatics department, and then since 2024 as a full-time associate professor in the Software Engineering department at AUCA. Since 1995, he has been working as a part-time associate professor in the Department of Information Computing Technology at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University in Bishkek.
