Aijamal Sarybaeva is the Co-chair of the non-degree General Education program, an Assistant Professor, and a Digital Cultures Concentration Coordinator in the Liberal Arts and Sciences department at the American University of Central Asia. She is doing her post-graduate studies at the School of History, Archeology, and Ethnology at the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.  She received a Master of Arts degree in International Studies from the University of Tsukuba (2010, Japan), a Master of Arts degree in History from Ball State University (2006, USA), and a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from American University of Central Asia (2004, Kyrgyzstan).

Aijamal joined AUCA in 2006 and teaches courses in Women’s History, Oral History, and Digital History as well as the First Year Seminar (FYS) and Second Year Seminar (SYS). For several years, Aijamal has been working on research projects such as Untold Stories of Soviet Kyrgyzstan, Oral History of Decollectivization in Kyrgyzstan, Oral History of 1991, and Accessing Memories of the Soviet Past

Aijamal is extensively involved with leadership duties, such as the Coordinator of the Digital Cultures concentration of the LAS department (2021-2023) and the OSCE Parliamentary Internship Program Coordinator.
