Natalia Zotova is PhD candidate at the Ohio State University. She is a cultural anthropologist who studies experiences of Central Asian migrants in the U.S. and Russia. Natalia conducted research among Central Asian migrants in various regions of Central Asia (Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan), Russia and the U.S. She explores experiences of migrants; resources and social networks that they use while accommodating to a new setting, as well as perceptions of stress and insecurity both in the countries of origin and destination. Natalia aims to conceptualize complex relationships of Central Asian migrants with the new social environment, when they re-develop their empirical, existential and social selves in the place of destination. She also explores the implications of transnational migration for the physical and psychological well-being of movers and their families.
