Mission, Goals and Learning outcomes

 

Mission

The AUCA Liberal Arts and Sciences Department equips students with comprehensive and flexible  interdisciplinary education, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and adaptability.  We cultivate engaged world citizens and leaders who are prepared to create sustainable innovative solutions for the regional and global challenges.

Goals

  1. Provide a cross-disciplinary programs by constantly revising its existing concentrations to meet the new challenges of a changing world;
  2. Increase synergy between academia and stakeholders via inter-disciplinary research, partnerships, internships, and student projects;
  3. Develop a future generation of leaders with diverse academic interests with inter-disciplinary skills and knowledge;
  4. Commit to the key tenets of the liberal arts and sciences: academic excellence, academic freedom, creativity, critical thinking, and flexibility. 
  5. Enable students to create sustainable solutions that address social, economic, and environmental issues, with a focus on long-term global and regional development.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand the global and regional challenges, the main concepts and ideas of art, literature, and science.
  2. Apply theory into practice by active involvement in civic engagement and partnerships projects, internships, research, incubation programs, global and regional initiatives.
  3. Students will demonstrate leadership abilities by integrating interdisciplinary skills and knowledge from diverse academic fields. They will show proficiency in initiating , planning and leading teams and changes, making informed decisions, and addressing complex issues with creativity and adaptability, preparing them to become leaders capable of navigating and solving global and regional challenges.
  4. Demonstrate critical thinking and creativity in their work and apply flexibility in their approaches to problem-solving and learning across diverse contexts.
  5. Students will be equipped with technical and soft skills to produce innovative solutions for the new challenges of a changing world.
