The role of Career Development Officer involves providing strategic direction and daily administration, management and leadership for the Career Development Center. Tasks include: coordinating and supervising a comprehensive array of integrated programs and services designed to assist students and alumni in career decision making and in exploring and securing career opportunities. CDO reports to Director of Development.
The successful candidate should demonstrate the following skills and qualifications:
- bachelor/ master’s degree in social sciences, business administration/equivalent experience in related areas;
- knowledge of career development theories, human development theory, counseling processes, career decision making processes;
- understanding of academic environment and needs and expectation of university communities and employer; knowledge of career services, recruiting and staffing employer methods, job search techniques and employment trends;
- strong ability to meet program needs, problem identification, presentation, verbal communication, written communication, organizational and leadership skills;
- knowledge of/experience in workshop and program development;
- strong ability to work with people from diverse cultures and collaborate with multiple and diverse constituents to accomplish goals;
- minimum of 2 years of experience in the relevant areas, including engaging with institutional leadership;
- full professional proficiency in spoken and written English, Russian, and professional working proficiency in spoken and written Kyrgyz is required;
- ability to work flexible hours.
CDO functions include, but not limited to:
- designing and implementing strategic plan for development of the office in accordance with mission of the university;
- policy development, interpretation and implementation;
- data collection and program evaluation;
- providing accurate information analysis and proper communication of employee and employer needs and expectations within commercial and non-commercial sectors and civil society;
- administration of a comprehensive database and system for job postings and employer connections;
- direct student services;
- network development within relevant local and international communities;
- coordination and leadership for student career development programs and activities across departments, divisions, colleges, and administrative units;
- engage in Development Office’s various endeavors and perform other related duties as assigned.
