The most important anthropological concept is culture. The relationship between technology and culture is complex. Many see it as cyclical: culture effects the ways people innovate and use technologies, while technology transforms many cultural and social practices and traditions. In the contemporary age, when new technologies develop at a much faster rate than in the previous centuries, this relationship becomes particularly significant. If technology is a medium, culture is content. Technical knowledge by itself is not sufficient, it needs the socio-cultural substance to successfully respond to the needs of society and produce effective technical solutions. Our anthropological courses, which explore the connection between culture and technology, will prepare specialists, who can help create culturally sensitive and socially justified innovative technological products.
