Misook Choi holds an MSc in Development Studies Research from the London School of Economics and Political Science in the United Kingdom. Her dissertation examined the role of social policy during structural changes using comparative case studies of three late developers; South Korea, India and Sweden. Before this she worked for seven years at the Korea Foundation; a public diplomacy organization affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea where as part of her role as a Senior Program Officer she planned, organized and implemented over 20 public diplomacy projects within multi-stakeholder environments including, but not limited to, the G20 Seoul Summit (2010) and the 4th High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Busan (2011). She has also worked for a bank and a consulting firm in Seoul.

She is based in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan till December 2017 in order to conduct research on national development and transformation of Central Asian countries. She has taught 'Development aid and politics' at ICP, AUCA as an Assistant Professor.
