Dear AUCA Family! An eventful year for the American University of Central Asia is drawing to a close, and I would like to take this opportunity to highlight remarkable moments and thank you for your tireless commitment and dedication to our university.

 

 
My name is Alina Baktybek kyzy. I am a second-year student of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences. This semester, in the autumn of  2023, I took the Challenges of the 21st Century,  The Second Year Seminar course by Professor  Ekaterina Galimova.

PI Dr. Alan Fryar and Dr. Karen Rignall from the University of Kentucky's Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, in collaboration with AUCA professors Co-PI Dr. Sagynbek Orunbaev, Baktyiar Asanov, and Dr.

Shakhzoda Mirakova, a JMC student, has been chosen as one of 25 members to join the Youth Sounding Board, a group of young people who advise the Commissioner and the Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) on youth participation and empowerment in EU external action.

AUCA proudly announces Mira Dzhakshylykova, our Sustainability Coordinator, as a distinguished participant at the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP-28, the world's premier climate conference! By representing AUCA and the education sector, championing youth involvement in Kyrgyzstan.

 
On December 8-9, 2023, the “Muras” futsal tournament was held in Bishkek. Dr. Mairambek Nurgaziev from the Environmental Sustainability and Climate Science department played for the team of “Bilim” (Bilim means knowledge).

On December 1, the Anthropology Department hosted  the Annual Anthropology Student Field Reports Session. This engaging event served as a platform for both Master's and Bachelor's students to present their field reports, unveiling a myriad of cultural narratives from diverse corners of the world.

From 4th-7th December, collaborating with six Kyrgyz universities, and supported by the European Union's SWITCH-Asia programme, PERETO partnered with IDEA Central Asia to launch the extensive Ecology 3.0 ecological campaign. The initiative included workshops across universities, empowering students to address climate change through sustainable tourism practices.

The Anthropology, Technology and International Development program is delighted to share this year's students who have been awarded the Mary Schweitzer Scholarship for Excellence in Anthropology. 

The awarding ceremony was held in a joint event with the Japanese Club of AUCA @japanese_club_auca. Japanese Club announced the winners of the Saiki Creative Contest organized by the club.
