Led by esteemed scholars and practitioners in the field, the Sociology Department provides students with a comprehensive understanding of sociological theories, methodologies, and applications. Students explore various aspects of social life through interdisciplinary approaches, including culture, inequality, globalization, and social change.

The faculty strongly emphasizes experiential learning, encouraging students to engage in hands-on research projects, internships, and community outreach initiatives. This practical experience equips students with the tools and perspectives to address real-world social issues and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Overall, the AUCA Sociology Department is committed to empowering students to become informed, compassionate, and proactive agents of social change in an ever-evolving world.

The SocioQuest program, held at AUCA, provided a unique opportunity for TSI college students and school students to delve into sociology through a series of interactive research “S-stations.” Throughout the course of a single day, participants engaged in various activities designed to expand their knowledge and experience in the social sciences and sociology.

The event commenced at 12:00 with a welcoming address from the organizers, who outlined the goals and objectives of the SocioQuest program. Participants were introduced to three stations offering unique activities and discussion topics.

At the first station, led by Mehrigul Ablezova, participants explored the practical experience of researching communities. Through case studies and data analysis, they immersed themselves in sociological methods and analysis.

At the second station, under the guidance of Mahinur Mamatova, participants examined identity through the lens of the sociology of identity and social psychology. Discussions revolved around personal and social identity and its influence on behavior and societal interactions.

The third station, led by Olga Tarabashkina, focused on the impact of norms on behavior and societal changes by designing social experiments. Participants conducted their own research and discussed their findings with their peers.

After the event, winners were awarded for their active participation and creativity during the research activities. This was followed by a pizza party, providing a delightful conclusion to an enriching day.

The SocioQuest program proved to be a unique and engaging event, offering students the opportunity to get new knowledge in sociology and apply it in practice through immersion in real research scenarios. The event received positive participant feedback thanks to its quality preparation and organization. It significantly impacted their understanding of sociology.

The SocioQuest program has emerged as a distinctive and compelling initiative, offering students an invaluable opportunity to deepen their understanding of sociology. More than just acquiring theoretical knowledge, participants could apply what they learned in practical research settings, engaging directly with real-world issues. This hands-on approach enriched their educational experience and honed their analytical and problem-solving skills.

We are proud of our strides in the Sociology Department and are excited about the potential of programs like SocioQuest to inspire and educate our students.
