We are excited to share the enriching experiences of one of our associate professors Ruslan M. Rakhimov from the Department of Anthropology, Technology, and International Development, on October 15-22, 2023 completed a short-term mobility fellowship at the Central European University (CEU) in Vienna, Austria.

This fellowship was part of the professor's ongoing project, "Practices & Policies of Transnational Mobility in the Global South," introduced in Spring 2023. It offered a unique opportunity to collaborate with Dr. Thilo Bodenstein from CEU's Public Policy department, enhancing both the depth and scope of the project.

Prior to the fellowship, the professor and Dr. Bodenstein had established a strong collaborative relationship through various online meetings, setting a solid foundation for their face-to-face interactions in Vienna.

During the week at CEU, they engaged in extensive discussions about the syllabus and explored numerous innovative projects under the OSUN network. They also discussed the exciting prospect of offering Networking Collaborative Courses in the upcoming academic year.

Our associate professor's background in anthropology, combined with Dr. Bodenstein's expertise in public policy, led to a comprehensive and multi-faceted approach to the subject matter. Dr. Bodenstein's insights into policy brief writing and applied research were particularly valuable.

A key highlight of the fellowship was the presentation titled "WWII rhetoric in the context of Kyrgyzstani labor," which received insightful feedback from a diverse group of CEU colleagues and students.

The fellowship was not only a learning experience but also a stepping stone for future academic endeavors. It has paved the way for an enhanced syllabus in Spring 2024, reflecting the evolved content and approach.

We are proud of our faculty's achievements and excited about the positive impact this refined curriculum will have on our students and the broader academic community.
