My name is Ulan Tolomushev, and I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology in 2021. I am pursuing my Master's degree at the private Catholic University of Rome, LUMSA University, with a fully funded scholarship. I am studying "Psychology of Work and Organizational Well-being." Additionally, I am pursuing an MBA in Business Psychology at the University of Prague, OEAEP.
During my first year at AUCA, I was still determining my future career path due to the various options available. In my second year, I had the opportunity to participate in an exchange program, allowing me to study at one of the prestigious universities in Turkey, KOÇ University. This experience significantly increased my knowledge and confidence in selecting my future profession and setting career goals. In my third year, I focused more on educational and counseling psychology. Overall, my years at AUCA played a crucial role in shaping my personal and professional life.
After graduating, I started working as an electronic resource assistant at AUCA. In this role, I delivered lectures on research conduct to first-year and NGA students, providing valuable interaction, which means a lot for novice psychologists. Three months into my position at AUCA, I transitioned to working as a counseling psychologist in a psychological help center in Bishkek. Due to my studying in English, I assisted Russian speakers and provided psychological services to English speakers.
I am grateful to my university for imparting academic knowledge and enriching student experiences that I absorbed personally. Even with the challenges posed by COVID-19, AUCA provided an uninterrupted learning experience.
Presently, I am employed as a counseling psychologist at the PARADISE SUN clinic, offering psychological help and assistance to clients in an online format. I aim to enhance my professional skills and mental growth through my master's degrees and new experiences. Ultimately, my goal is to return to Bishkek, contribute to the field of psychology, advocate for mental health, and elevate the quality of psychological services in Kyrgyzstan.
If you are uncertain and anxious about your career or which path to follow after graduation, please do not hurry; just take your time. It would be much better if you took small steps, explored your interests, and trusted that your unique journey would unfold, revealing unexpected and rewarding paths. In the journey, AUCA may help you a lot since it opens doors to many opportunities for its students, fostering growth and learning in a friendly and welcoming environment.
In addition, I express deep gratitude to the faculty for all their support and provision of ample knowledge and a solid theoretical foundation. Thanks to them, I can compete at a high level in universities and the labor market.
