November 24, 2023

Embarking on a captivating journey to the Taldybulak Levoberezhny Gold Mine on Saturday, November 11, 2023, the collaborative efforts of the "Applied Geology" and "Environmental Management and Sustainable Development'' Departments at AUCA brought students together for an enriching field trip. Guided by the experienced professors, Kyiazbek Asilbekov and Eldiiar Duulatov, the expedition unfolded as an educational exploration into the realm of gold mining.

Ensuring our safety from the outset, the company's specialists provided a comprehensive briefing on safety protocols, equipping each participant with helmets and vests. The introduction was followed by an illuminating presentation by the gold mining company's geologists, delving into the intricacies of the deposit's geology. Topics ranged from gold mining techniques to the reserves of this precious metal and the underlying processes of ore formation.

A brief interlude for lunch in the company canteen fostered camaraderie among the participants before the group proceeded to tour the plant and tailings dump. Unfortunately, due to ongoing renovations, access to the underground mine was restricted during this visit. Undeterred, experts in the field generously shared insights into the company's production activities, offering a firsthand look at the intricacies of their operations. Throughout the excursion, students and professors engaged in meaningful dialogue, with the experts patiently addressing queries and providing detailed explanations.

This immersive experience not only broadened our understanding of gold mining but also underscored the importance of safety measures and environmental considerations in the industry. The excursion to Taldybulak Levoberezhny Gold Mine stands as a testament to the collaborative spirit of academic departments and the invaluable bridge it creates between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

This excursion helps students consolidate the theoretical knowledge acquired at the university, and also opens up a variety of career opportunities, helping students match their interests and abilities with a suitable career in the mining sector, considering the rapid development of the mining industry in Kyrgyzstan.
