AUCA Presidential Inauguration and Initiation Ceremony 2023

On November 14th, the Kyrgyz State Philharmonic Hall was filled with AUCA spirit! The AUCA Initiation Ceremony 2023 was a momentous occasion, marking the official initiation of Timothy O'Connor as the new President of the AUCA and welcoming freshmen as AUCA students, as well as the inauguration of the new Student Senate. The annual ceremony was filled with excitement and anticipation as the university community gathered to witness this important transition.

Chingiz Shamshiev, the AUCA Vice-President, opened the official part of the ceremony. He began his speech by addressing the freshmen with congratulations and parting words, - "Dear freshmen, you have started a wonderful journey, which will be very rich and exciting in terms of learning, inquiry, friendship, projects, and solidarity." Afterward, Chingiz Shamshiev welcomed Dr. Timothy O'Connor to the stage and awarded him with the American University of Central Asia presidential symbols under a storm of applause.

"My appointment to the post of President took place only a few months ago, but during this time, I managed to feel the university's spirit. Accepting this invitation, I knew that AUCA's values coincide with mine. AUCA's mission is to prepare highly qualified specialists and highly educated citizens aware of and responsible for creating a more just, prosperous, and open society." - Dr. Timothy O'Connor.

After the Presidential Inauguration, Students' Life Officer Shakhruddin Iminov invited members of the new and previous convocation of senators for the solemn transfer of responsibility and to take the oath to the AUCA community. During the ceremony, a new scholarship was also announced in honor of Nikolay Shulgin, AUCA Artistic Director. Graduates from AUCA and Mirrors Theater fund the scholarship intended for outstanding students of the Mirrors Theater.

At the end of the official part of the ceremony, there was an exceptional performance by theatre Mirrors, who presented their new show, "Memory Wave" dedicated to AUCA's legacy over the past 30 years. The show was a stunning display of creativity and talent, weaving elements from all previous Mirrors performances into a captivating narrative celebrating AUCA's rich history.

"Memory Wave" served as a reminder of how far AUCA has come since its inception and highlighted the university's commitment to fostering creativity and artistic expression. It was a fitting tribute to AUCA's legacy and left everyone in awe of Mirrors' ability to capture the essence of the university through their performance.

The AUCA Initiation Ceremony 2023 was a memorable event that marked a vital leadership transition and the beginning of an exciting new chapter for incoming freshmen.
