Student participation at conferences provides an excellent platform for showcasing research skills and exploring new ideas. Recently, Meerim Beishenkulova, a senior student from the Department of Applied Geology, had the opportunity to present her work at the prestigious international conference, Central Asia GIS Conference - GISCA 2023 and Project Workshops "Geospatial Approaches to Understanding the Changing World." With the guidance and mentorship of Dr Ormukov Cholponbek, Meerim delivered a compelling presentation on the topic "Analysis of Land Use Dynamics based on GIS in Bishkek."

The conference served as a forum for Meerim to unveil her scientific research findings, which she had diligently conducted in collaboration with her supervisor. Her presentation centred around a pressing issue facing the city of Bishkek: urban planning and the environmental situation. Meerim aimed to shed light on the challenges and opportunities within these domains through her research.

During her talk, Meerim delved into the intricacies of her study, emphasising the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology as a powerful tool for analysing land use dynamics. She presented comprehensive data and visualisations that showcased the transformation of Bishkek's urban landscape over time. By employing GIS, Meerim was able to provide valuable insights into the city's growth patterns, land allocation, and associated environmental impacts.

Meerim's presentation captivated the audience, consisting of scholars, professionals, and fellow students from diverse backgrounds. Her meticulous research, eloquence, and passion for the subject matter garnered appreciation and recognition from her peers and experts in the field. The conference offered an intellectually stimulating environment, fostering discussions and collaborations that enriched Meerim's understanding of geospatial approaches and their applications in tackling real-world challenges.

Meerim's participation at the Central Asia GIS Conference - GISCA 2023 and Project Workshops "Geospatial Approaches to Understanding the Changing World" proved to be a rewarding experience. The conference allowed her to present her research and connect with like-minded individuals who shared her passion for geospatial analysis and urban planning.
