On December, Friday 2, the AUCA community held one of the most anticipated events of the year! Annually the Initiation Ceremony took place at the Toktogul Satylganov Philharmonic Hall, but this year a decision was made to conduct a ceremony in the walls of the AUCA campus. Despite this change, the Initiation went as magnificent as it was before.
The event was opened by President Jonathan Becker, he stood up with a heartfelt speech dedicated to those students who’s been initiated to AUCA students rank. “I urge you to take advantage of the opportunity you have for the next four years because the time goes by incredibly quickly. Take advantage of the amazing faculty that you have, and join the performances like “Mirrors” that we will see today. Do a civic engagement project through SIDP and you can take courses all across the world through OSUN. I often speak of one AUCA, which is whenever you are from, you attend one institution. I wish you good luck through the rest of your time here!” - Jonathan Becker, the President of AUCA.
After the official speech of Jonathan Becker, the respective guest Azamat Naimanbaev, the Head of the Department of Higher, Secondary, and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic made a speech for the AUCA community. “You are part of a strong community that values academic excellence and diversity. AUCA is among the best and most advanced universities in the country, including at the international level. Thanks to AUCA's culture of curiosity, critical and collaboration, you have the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge research and creative opportunities with world-class. We are sure that AUCA will proudly celebrate your differences, uniqueness, and achievements.” - Azamat Naimanbaev.
Right after the welcome introductions, the newly elected Student Senate solemnly took an oath to AUCA. But the most desired part was a performance from the musical theater Mirrors - “Princess Turandot”. This exciting show was not at all like any other performance of the theatre “Mirrors” since it was an anti-opera that declares a deconstruction of existing canons and traditions of the musical shows. As always this brilliant show was directed by the recognized master of art craft Nikolai Shulgin and the Students Life Office. At the end of the celebration, AUCA students sang together the university's unofficial anthem “I Was Born”.
