Admission is free, refreshments are free for everyone.

Halloween has passed, but the pumpkins ... remained.  If you have noticed, the principles of eco-consciousness are increasingly penetrating into our lives and even on holidays.  This year, the campus did not carve scary faces from pumpkins, as before, and only a small part of the vegetables were beautifully painted with paints.  And all in order to keep the pumpkins safe.

As part of the Green AUCA project, we want as little food as possible to be thrown into the trash on our campus. And we decided to do a culinary experiment this year.

So that potential food would not be lost, some of the pumpkins were taken by those who wished to take home. And from the remaining pumpkins, our Kitchennet will prepare interesting dishes - 1) a pumpkin baked with spices, and 2) a sweet dessert.

Come!  Let's save pumpkins together ;))

Horrifying Facts

  • The UN's 2020 Global Food Waste Index Report found that more than 900 million tons of food is wasted every year. This means that 17% of all food in stores, households and restaurants ends up in the bin, according to the BBC.

  • With 923 tons of food thrown away around the world every year, 23 million 40-ton trucks can be filled. If all these trucks were lined up, their turn would encircle the globe seven times.

  • If all food waste were collected in one state, it would be the third largest source of garbage on the planet.

  • It is important that along with the food thrown away, the world is wasting the resources that were used to prepare this food, including wasted money and human work.
