Thirty years of Central Asia’s international relations: taking stock and looking forward

February 27, 2020

On 4 March 2020 Crossroads Central Asia, an independent research institute, in collaboration with the International and Comparative Politics Department of AUCA, is hosting a one-day conference titled “Thirty years of Central Asia’s international relations: taking stock and looking forward”.

The event brings an international group of scholars from Central Asian states as well as Russia, the USA, and the UK. In the course of three panels, they will discuss the key lessons learned and to-be-learned in Central Asian countries’ interactions with the world in the past (nearly) thirty years. The workshop will lead to the preparation and publication of a policy paper series on the subject and, hopefully, serve a stepping stone for the more expansive cycle of scholarly analyses and debates on international relations of and in Central Asia.

The conference is organized with the support from the Hollings Center for International Dialogue.

The conference will start at 9:00 on 4 March 2020 in Room T16 at the American University of Central Asia. The conference’s preliminary program can be accessed here
