AUCA Outdoor Club together with EMSD Department was Recognized for their Active Commitment to Outdoor Exploration in Kyrgyzstan

October 8, 2018

The AUCA Outdoor Club along with AUCA’s Environmental Management and Sustainable Development Program under which the club operates was recognized for their active participation and commitment to outdoor exploration while participating in the Annual Mountain Tourism Weekend held by the Trekking Union of Kyrgyzstan (tuk.kg) in beautiful Kegeti Gorge in honor of International Tourism Day.

The AUCA Outdoor Club was established in Fall 2016 following the success of that summer’s Eco-Leadership Project held in Ala Archa by US Outdoor Education Specialist Nathan Fry in conjunction with the EMSD department headed by Chair Zheenbek Kulenbekov.

The club’s goal is to encourage students to spend more time outside enjoying the nature of Kyrgyzstan and to develop a sense of responsibility toward the environment.

The club, under the current leadership of 2nd-year AUCA student Abdurakhman Abdurakhmanov, organizes various outdoor activities such as trekking, camping, rock climbing, and skiing, going on fun relaxing field trips and/or more difficult expeditions approximately twice per month.

“We love to introduce people to the beauty of the Kyrgyz Outdoors – please check our Facebook group for regular updates on our activities and trips!”
