AUCA students of MA in Applied Psychology will have an opportunity to study one semester abroad

Starting from the new academic year, AUCA students of MA in Applied Psychology will have an opportunity to study one semester and do research works abroad. Sooner, memorandum about it will be signed between AUCA and its old partner university – Indiana University.

Same agreement is already made between one more American university – University of Massachusetts Boston.

Indiana University is the first foreign university, which began to cooperate with AUCA since almost its foundation. Indiana University is the large research university, and in the top hundred universities in the world. IU is multi-campus university system with eight campuses statewide.   

One of the IU campuses – Indiana University Southeast, located in New Albany, starting from 2016/2017 academic year is ready to receive MA students in Applied Psychology for one semester to study and research.

Tuition is free, but a student has to pay for transportation and accommodation.

International student exchange program is became possible due to all-round support of Diane Wille, psychology professor, coordinator of the Psychology Program and Dean of Research of the Indiana University.

– AUCA students will take MA courses on psychological counseling and psychotherapy, organizational and cognitive psychology. Also, they will have an opportunity to carry out cross-cultural psychological research works, or join research groups of the IU, use IU library and labs. To say the truth, they will not be awarded with degree. Nevertheless, their credits taken in IU will be accepted in AUCA, – said Makhinur Mamatova, candidate of Psychological Sciences, associate professor of the Psychology Department of AUCA..

– All the students are able to go to study one semester in USA?

– All students have equal rights. The place will be filled by open competition - MA students have to right motivation letter, explaining why they want to go to the Indiana University Southeast, how useful it will be for their academic and research activities, future career, and attach their CV to the letter. AUCA Psychology Department will make a decision on this competition.

Admission process for studying in the IU Southeast is opened, first applications are already received.

Within the framework of the student exchange program with the University of Massachusetts Boston, two AUCA students will spend their one semester in USA.
