ICP week, March 28 – April 6, 2014
March 28, 16:30 - 18:00 – Parliamentarism in Kyrgyzstan (roundtable). Speakers – MP, member of the Committee on economic and fiscal policy Dastan Bekeshev and the Head of Coalition for Democracy and Civil Society Dinara Oshurakhunova. Short talks by speakers on the state of parliamentarism in Kyrgyzstan (perspectives from within and outside of the parliament) would be followed by Q&A and discussion. Language: Russian. Venue: 315
March 29-30 – the International Crisis Game. This time the crisis game will be devoted to the ongoing issues in the wider Central Asia, and participants will propose their visions on development in the region. This event intends to raise the awareness of students about the nature of conflicts, enable them better understand various political aspects and behavior of actors in the region, analyze wider international context of what happens in Central Asia as well as to give possibility to improve their leadership skills. Language: English. Venue: 315 and other classrooms.
April 2, 16:00 – 17:00 – Political journalism by non-journalists. A public talk by the contributors to the Global Voices and other media on their experience of being journalists. Language: English. Venue: 315
April 4, 17:00 - 19:30 – A quiz night “Politics is Fun”. A quiz night is held for ICP alumni and students, and for others interested. During the evening participants will experience funny aspects of politics, and will have an opportunity to see old friends. Language: Russian. Venue: Guinness Pub.
April 5, 9:30 – 12:30 – Human Rights After June 2010 (an interdisciplinary roundtable). Organized jointly with the International and Business Law, and Anthropology departments of AUCA. Violent conflicts by itself invoke violations of human rights which are not easily resolved in their aftermath. The roundtable will bring various disciplinary perspectives on the situation with human rights after the June events of 2010, and it will be an attempt to bring together academic researchers and practitioners in the field to discuss this issue. Language: English. Venue: 315
April 6, 9:30 – 12:30 – The Students’ Political Science Research Conference. The research workshop is aimed to providing an opportunity for ICP students to develop their research paper by organizing discussions of submitted papers. It primarily aims at senior student who are developing their theses, junior students who want to submit their research proposals for discussion and any ICP student who is writing a research paper for any of the AUCA courses. Language: English. Venue: 214 (II).
