This City Is The … City in The World

Department of Anthropology and Central Asian Studies Institute, AUCA, invites faculty members and students to take part in the conference titled This City Is The … City in The World. The conference will take place on November 29-30, 2013 at the American University of Central Asia, main building, room 403. 

Bishkek – a seemingly typical post-Soviet city – has some special aura around it. There is something about Bishkek, which is not easy to catch, explain or measure. The city develops following its own unapparent logic, being projected into the space, time and discourse through a variety of forms, characters and stories. We invite everyone to think about what makes our city unique. Three dots are left in the conference title as the main field and material for discussions. We invite presentations from various academic disciplines and professional fields.
