Julien Bruley is a Phd student in social anthropology from the University of Lille, France. He studied literature, history and anthropology, and after a first trip to Kyrgyzstan, he was absorbed in the maze of the epic Manas.
He will spent 6 months in Kyrgyzstan to attend Manas aytuu (Manas recitation), to collect information about manasči (the teller of Manas) and their art, to observe the interactions between them and their audience during their performance.
He is also particularly focused on the written side of the epic (versions of Manas published) which seems to become a tradition in itself.
