Applying the established tools and practices of the liberal arts tradition, LAS concentration in Literature and History is meant to introduce students to what is involved in transforming past experience into words, novels, and historical texts and to ground students in the established and evolving practices of these core humanities disciplines. The concentration grew out of, and is rooted in, CASI’s Literature and History workshop, with the seminar allowing students in the concentration access to an established network of literary and historical expertise that includes former workshop participants – advanced graduate students and junior scholars – from Yale, Princeton, Cambridge, Reed, and CEU, among others.
