Together, We Can Secure a Future for Afghan Students at the AUCA!

July 3, 2025

For over two decades, AUCA has been a beacon of hope for Afghan students. Since 1999, nearly 500 Afghan students have graduated from AUCA, becoming leaders and change-makers worldwide. When Kabul fell in 2021, AUCA welcomed nearly 200 additional students, helping them evacuate and either begin or continue their education in a safe environment. Today, 75 Afghan students remain at AUCA, but many are at risk of losing everything. As AUCA students, you understand the transformative power of an education here. Now, these students need your support more than ever.

In June 2025, AUCA received devastating news: U.S. government funding for 43 students, covering full tuition, will end abruptly on July 1, 2025. Additionally, 23 students who expected to relocate have lost their financial support. Many of these students are women and religious minorities who face significant risks, with no safe way to return home and no pathway for resettlement in the U.S. Without immediate action, these students may be forced to abandon their education, jeopardizing their dreams and safety.

To ensure these students can continue their studies at AUCA, we’ve set ambitious but achievable goals: $750,000 to support 66 students in the 2025-26 academic year, and $240,000 to sustain the remaining students in the 2026-27 academic year. Your contributions will cover tuition, housing, and essential resources, giving these students the stability they need to succeed.

The AUCA community has always been defined by its commitment to education, resilience, and global impact. Now, we have the opportunity to stand with Afghan students at a pivotal moment in their lives. Together, we can ensure they have the chance to complete their education and shape a better future for themselves and the world.
