Melis Turgunbaev has been appointed head of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision. The corresponding decree was signed by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Zhaparov. Then the candidacy of M. Turganbaev was approved by the Jogorku Kenesh (Supreme Council) of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Melis Turgunbaev is a 2003 American University of Central Asia graduate with a bachelor's degree in International Relations. Later he graduated from Osh State University with a degree in Accounting, Analysis, and Audit. In addition, he has a Candidate degree in economic sciences.
He began his career as a leading specialist in the Public Debt and Assets Department and was an intern at the Department of the Public Investment Program.
From 2006 to 2008, he worked in various positions at Gazprom Neft Asia LLC. For three years, he was a member of the Board of Directors of OJSC Kyrgyzneftegaz. Then he taught at the Ataturk-Alatoo International University. In addition, he was the director of the Jalalabatgaz branch of Gazprom Kyrgyzstan LLC.
Since April 2017, he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors and then Chairman of the Management Board of Kyrgyzneftegaz OJSC.
In May 2022, he was elected a member of the Board of Directors of CJSC Kyrgyz Investment and Credit Bank.
