Center for Civic Engagement of AUCA invites you to OSUN event: «Women’s rights during COVID-19 pandemic» videoconference on May 12, 2020 at 19:00 Bishkek time.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, a dramatic increase has been reported in recorded cases of violence against women and domestic violence. The policy of isolation and confinement has put women in the position to bear the burden of handling too many led to increased domestic, sexual, gender-based violence as evidence being increasingly reported. Many women globally have to make difficult choices related to their well-being. Therefore, protection against violent incidents, as well as some longer-term effects on women's economic independence, access to medical services, participation in decision-making, need to be addressed.
We would like to assess what is being done on a local level to address the issues of women's rights at risk during a pandemic. Speakers from Kyrgyzstan, USA and Germany will share their experiences.
Opening remarks are to be made by Professor Anne Firth Murray, well-known activist, non-profit «Global Fund for women» founder, teacher at Stanford University.
This videoconference will run in English.
