On September 2, 2016, new faculty at the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) met for orientation.
The meeting was opened by AUCA President Andrew Wachtel. He wished the new professors good luck, “This is a good place to work. Here you’ll find responsible people, excellent coworkers, and a beautiful campus. Thank you for being here with us!”
Directors and representatives from university staff departments like Human Resources, Public Relations, IT, the Shared Service Center, the Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology, the Finance Office, Academic Advising, and the Library spoke to the new faculty members about University resources and the regulations around them.
Frank G. Karioris, a new professor in the Sociology Department from Chicago, USA, talked about his positive experience with the University and its students, “I like this place. Students here are very smart and interested in studying despite their difficulty with English. I gave classes during the two-week-long Orientation Week and had a great time with those 20 students. They all were highly active during my classes.”
This year, 15 new faculty members have started work at AUCA: BA, MBA, Sociology, Software Engineering , Psychology, FYS and NGA
