Andrew Wachtel, the president of the American University of Central Asia (AUCA), met with Nadya Zhuravleva, a representative of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Extension program.
“[The UCLA extension] program is accredited by UCLA. We have an American English center, and we offer English language courses. We have academic English, intensive English as well as a new pre-Master’s prep program, which prepares students to succeed in graduate programs,” said Nadya Zhuravleva.
The mission of the UCLA Extension is to provide extraordinary learning experiences for adults of all ages. This includes collaboration with international partners. Both UCLA and AUCA offer strong academics, international exchange, career support, and community engagement accessible locally and globally.
UCLA Extension students come from over 100 countries from around the world. Each year, over 3,500 international students enroll in more than 130 certificate programs. Annually, the UCLA Extension program confers approximately 2,300 certificates.
Certificates and courses at UCLA Extension include business, arts, engineering, IT, entertainment studies, design, public policy, public health, humanities, design, ESL, and more. The Academic Senate at UCLA reviews and approves the curriculum for each certificate. Courses are held on the UCLA Campus in Westwood, Downtown Los Angeles; additionally, online classes are available around the globe.
