February 8, 2016

On February 21, 2016, AUCA alumni Begimai Sataeva and Nursultan Sulaimanov will present their social entrepreneurship project in the finals of an IT competition in Barcelona.

The young businessmen developed ARTASIAN.co, a mobile application promoting handicrafts by Central Asian artisans in foreign countries. The new business venture sets itself apart by only promoting products handmade by artisans from Central Asia. Each item tells an individual vision and history.

Nursultan Sulaimanov, a founder of ARTASIAN.сo, said the project combines elements of social entrepreneurship and small business development. “Our project aims to catch foreigner customers’ eyes for the rich culture of the Silk Road and Nomadic lifestyle, as well as to support domestic products. There is large selection of goods in national style at ARTASIAN.co. We cooperate with artisans making handmade products, and afterwards we arrange fast delivery channels all over the world.”

AUCA President Andrew Wachtel personally met with this team, congratulated them for start of business, and gave the young entrepreneurs his recommendations.

Wachtel said, “I am always happy when I see our alumni are launching small business projects. I think the country’s development depends exactly on this activity”.

The team has already presented their project at the Eurasia Mobile Challenge international competition in Moscow, organized by VimpelCom Company. Kyrgyzstanis won a victory, leaving start-ups from Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan behind.

At the moment, our alumni are preparing to present their project at the finals of a competition in Barcelona, Spain.

If you would like to support the young businessmen, you always can visit their website, learn about how to purchase handmade products, and learn more about the artisans of the Kyrgyz Republic and Central Asia.
