*The Sociology department will consider an applicant's better score from either the mathematics or essay exams during their admission decision.

Note: Score requirements in bold are the only score the department considers during admission to the department.  While both the math and essay exams are important in determining an applicant’s admission to AUCA, only the one exam score (highlighted above in bold) will be considered in the final admission to the academic department.  The other exam score is used by the University only to determine a student's course placement; though all students must pass both minimum exam scores in order to qualify to apply to AUCA.

Undergraduate/ Bachelor's Program Entrance Requirements

Undergraduate applicants will be considered for admissions if the following criteria are met:

  • Must have (or will complete by time of enrollment) a high school diploma, vocational education certificate, or the equivalent  [Note: applicants currently in high school must submit a certificate from the current secondary school certifying that the applicant is in the final year of study]
  • Must submit proof of English proficiency - either AUCA Test of English Language Proficiency (TOELP), Official TOEFL or Official IELTS Results 
  • Must either pass AUCA Admission Exams (math test and essay) or submit either the SAT or ACT Plus Writing Standardized Admissions Tests
  • Must submit an application for admission, supporting documents, and statement of purpose 
  • Must conduct an interview with the applicant's intended department (either in person, or for students outside of Bishkek, interviews can be conducted by telephone/Skype with prior arrangement)

 

Undergraduate Entrance Requirements for Transfer Students

AUCA admits transfer students who are in good standing from other recognized/accredited institutions from around the world.  Students who wish to transfer to AUCA from another higher education institution should submit an AUCA application form along with a complete transcript of all academic work completed at the other institution(s).  Applicants must list all colleges/universities attended on the application for admission.  Failure to provide information about prior college attendance is grounds for disciplinary action including immediate dismissal from the University. 

NOTE: Students of “Zaochnyi” system courses and programs are ineligible for transfer to AUCA.  Only students from traditional full-time or part-time university programs are eligible to transfer into AUCA programs.

Transfer students may be awarded transfer credit at the discretion of the AUCA Registrar's Office. The Registrar’s Office will determine the amount of credit granted for transfer.  Only courses with grades of C and higher (based on the letter grade system) or a 4 or higher (based on the CIS 5-point numerical grade system) will be considered for transfer.

The maximum total of transfer credit within the students major cannot exceed 15 credits.  To receive an AUCA Bachelor’s Degree, a student must earn at least 35 credits at American University of Central Asia.

In addition to an application and transcripts, transfer students must submit SAT or ACT Plus Writing scores or sit for AUCA Admission Exams, and non-native English speaking students will be required to provide proof of their English proficiency (either AUCA Test of English Language ProficiencyTOEFL, or IELTS results).  

The following are the criteria for admission of transfer students:

  • Must have a high school diploma, vocational education certificate, or the equivalent
  • Must submit official copies (notarized photocopies) of all university-level transcripts/marksheets
  • Must submit proof of English Proficiency- either AUCA Test of English Language Proficiency, Official TOEFL or Official IELTS Results
  • Must either pass AUCA Admission Exams (math test and essay) or submit either the SAT or ACT Plus Writing Standardized Admissions Tests
  • Must submit an application for admission, supporting documents, and statement of purpose 
  • Must conduct an interview with the applicant's intended department (either in person, or for students outside of Bishkek, interviews can be conducted by telephone/Skype with prior arrangement)

 

MBA/Graduate Program Entrance Requirements

AUCA Master’s in Business Administration Program admits students who have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized/accredited institution from anywhere around the world.  Because the MBA Program is an advanced degree program in business, students without prior education in business or economics are required to take eight-week pre-MBA courses in the following disciplines: Introduction to Management; Business Mathematics; English; Introduction to Economics; and Introduction to Information Systems. 

Applicants to the MBA Program must list all colleges/universities attended on the application for admission.  Failure to provide information about prior college attendance is grounds for disciplinary action including immediate dismissal from the University. 

NOTE: Graduates of degree programs under the “Zaochnyi” system are ineligible for MBA admissions.  Only students from traditional university programs are eligible for admission to the MBA Program.

Applicants to the MBA/Graduate Program will be considered for admissions if the following criteria are met:

  • Must have (or will complete by time of enrollment) a bachelor's degree, specialist diploma, or the equivalent  [Note: applicants currently in college must submit a certificate from the current university or college certifying that the applicant is in the final year of study]
  • Must submit proof of English proficiency - either AUCA Test of English Language Proficiency, Official TOEFL or Official IELTS Results
  • Must either pass AUCA Institutional Tests or submit either the GMAT or GRE Standardized Admissions Tests
  • Must submit an application for admission, supporting documents, statement of purpose and a current CV/Resume in English
  • Must conduct an interview with the MBA Program (either in person, or for students outside of Bishkek, interviews can be conducted by telephone/Skype with prior arrangement)
  • Must submit a current CV/Resume in English

 

 

English Language Requirements – AUCA Test of English Language Proficiency, TOEFL & IELTS Exams

Any applicant whose native language is not English is required to prove their English proficiency by either sitting for the AUCA Test of English Language Proficiency or by submitting official scores received from either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language

TOEFL results can be reported through the Educational Testing Service (ETS) at www.toefl.org. Student applicants must request that the TOEFL testing center send the results to American University of Central Asia. TOEFL test scores will be automatically sent without extra cost to AUCA if, during testing, the student writes American University of Central Asia's four-digit code (0419) in the space provided on the TOEFL test answer sheet.

Where to Send Standardized Test Results for SAT, ACT Plus Writing, GRE, GMAT, TOEFL and IELTS

  • TOEFL test results should be sent directly from Educational Testing Service (ETS)
    www.ets.org or www.toefl.org to the AUCA Office of Admissions. The ETS institution code number to use is 0419.
  • IELTS results should be sent directly by IELTS www.ielts.org .  The institution code for Undergraduate Admissions is 8306 and for Graduate/MBA Admissions is 8305.
  • SAT test results should be sent directly from the College Board www.collegeboard.com/ to the AUCA Office of Admissions. The institution code number to use is 5825.
  • ACT Plus Writing results should be sent directly by ACT www.act.org .  The institution code to use is 5479.
  • GMAT results should be sent directly by the Graduate Management Admissions Council www.mba.com/mba/TaketheGMAT The institution code to use is S2B-2G-87
  • GRE test results should be sent directly from Educational Testing Service (ETS)
