The creation of the Environmental Management and Sustainable Development program was prompted by Central Asia’s need for environmental experts and AUCA’s mission to support the region’s transition to a development path that balances social, economic and environmental interests. This program perfectly fits the university’s mission of training enlightened and impassioned leaders, who think globally and act this out locally in the specific conditions of Central Asia.
This state of the art science lab will support new graduate and undergraduate degrees in Environmental Science, as well as complementing current degree programs such as Environmental Management for Sustainable Development. Opened to students in 2013, this degree course guides students through the scientific and social perspectives so relevant to Central Asia’s modern development in part by providing those students access to the region’s leading thinkers in this field.
The Sustainability Board is the advisory body of the AUCA Environmental Sustainability program. The representatives come from business, government, and academia with the goal of forming a curriculum and study experience that prepares students for the environmental challenges that face Central Asia today, and will have consequences for the entire world in the future.
The tours as practical training to Kumtor and Nabu for the field research give understanding about basic approaches and following analysis of global review and environmental sustainability.
