Information for interested companies

The new campus academic building has a space reserved for a university store on the first floor.  The space is approximately 62 square meters.

AUCA is soliciting proposals to rent this space and provide retail services to enhance the experience of our campus community as well as to provide an outlet for AUCA branded merchandise.

Basic rules:

  • The applicant should describe, in two pages or less, the overall concept of the services that he/she wishes to provide.
  • Supporting materials (up to 5 pages) should tell AUCA why the applicant believes that he/she is capable of successfully executing the proposal (experience, etc.) and give a more detailed description of the products the applicant proposes to sell.
  • The applicant should provide a sketch showing the store design in relation to the overall look and feel of the building and indicating how he/she would like the space to be outfitted. Within reason, AUCA is willing to build to suit.
  • The applicant should provide a proposed schedule of operations – it is possible to open as early as 7:30am and to work until 11pm every day. In principle during exam periods and other times when the building is open late, later hours are possible.

Financial Considerations:

  • The winning bidders will sign a contract with AUCA for a period of two years, beginning as early as July 1, 2015.
  • The winning bidder agrees to employ the AUCA electronic payment system for all internal campus transactions (AUCA provides the payment terminals and access to the system at its own cost).
  • During the period of the contract the winning bidder agrees to pay AUCA 7% of gross receipts monthly, with a monthly minimum of $150 for the nine months between September 1 and May 30 and $100 for the three months between June 1 and August 30 every year (the period from the time the establishment opens until September 1, 2015 will be rent free).
  • If at any time during the contract period AUCA believes that the applicant is not providing the basic services promised in the original bid, the university has the right to a) provide written warning to the establishment owner and b) if the owner does not respond with a reasonable and complete explanation for why the range of services has changed, to ask the owner to vacate the premises after two months notice.
  • AUCA agrees to work with the owner to design AUCA branded items to sell in the university store. Such materials will be purchased by the store owner and sold under the same conditions as #3 above.

Request for Proposals – Café Spaces at AUCA

The American University of Central Asia announces a tender for Café Spaces at AUCA.

Proposals will be accepted until: April 24, 2015

Proposals must be submitted in sealed envelopes only (marked “Proposal for Café Spaces at AUCA” at the following address:
American University of Central Asia
205, Abdymomunov street, Bishkek
720040, Kyrgyz Republic

(for attention to Sania Battalova)

E-mail:  tender-aucacampus@auca.kg

Information for interested companies

The new campus academic building has spaces reserved for three establishments (for now we will call them cafés) one on the second, one on the third and one on the fourth floor.  Each space is approximately 62 square meters plus a small balcony and is provided with water and electricity.  There are no cooking facilities available, although it will be possible to use a microwave in the space and to install refrigeration.  AUCA is asking for proposals to rent these café spaces and provide services in them for our campus community.  The proposal does not have to be for a traditional café, although we expect that at least one of them will be that; at the same time, we are looking for proposal projects that are imaginative and provide our students, faculty and staff with a unique set of products/services that will compliment the offerings of our campus cafeteria and make the AUCA building a pleasant and attractive place to study and work.

Basic rules:

  • The applicant must describe, in less than three pages the overall concept of the services that he/she wishes to provide.
  • Supporting materials (up to 5 pages) should tell AUCA why the applicant believes that he/she is capable of successfully executing the proposal (experience, etc., proposed menu if food/drink is to be served). NB—according to Kyrgyz law AUCA cannot sell alcoholic beverages on its campus.
  • The applicant should provide a sketch indicating how he/she would like to make use of the space in relation to the overall look and feel of the building. Within reason, AUCA is willing to build to suit and to provide some furnishings.  Special furnishings (refrigeration units, coffee machines, and so forth) are to be provided by the applicant.
  • The applicant should provide a proposed schedule of operations – it is possible to open as early as 7:30am and to work until 11pm every day. In principle during exam periods and other times when the building is open late, later hours are possible.
  • The winning bidder is responsible for obtaining all necessary permits and licenses from appropriate government agencies.

  • During the period of the contract the winning bidder agrees to pay AUCA 7% of gross receipts monthly, with a monthly minimum of $300 for the nine months between September 1 and May 30 and $100 for the three months between June 1 and August 30 every year (the period from the time the establishment opens until September 1, 2015 will be rent free). The tenant is responsible for daily clean up and utilities.  In case of clogged pipes, the tenant is responsible for the cost of unclogging.
