MINOR IN JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATIONS
Journalism and Mass Communications Department offers a minor degree for the students of other departments. The minor provides basic skills in writing and editing news and features for print and online media, as well as an introduction to the basic skills for video and audio editing necessary for the practice of the field.
Students may apply for the minor degree in Journalism and Mass Communications after completion the first year of study. Students must maintain GPA 2.7 and higher.
To earn the minor degree in Journalism and Mass Communications, students must complete a total of 42 credits from Journalism and Mass Communications Department.
In addition to completing a total of 42 credits in Journalism and Mass Communications courses, students are required to submit a portfolio consisting of at least six (6) articles of at least 300 words published in the New Star newspaper (publications in other media are accepted). Students must also produce at least five (5) video stories for TV AUCA.
