Aida Abdykanova is an archeologist and an Associate Professor of AUCA Anthropology Program. In 2003, she graduated from the Faculty of History and Regional Studies of the Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn; and in 2006, she completed her postgraduate degree at the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Novosibirsk. In 2007, she defended her thesis entitled ‘Paleolithic Complexes of the Mangyshlak Peninsula (Western Kazakhstan)’ and she also holds a degree of Candidate of Historical Sciences in archaeology.

She is working at AUCA since 2007. Since then she supervised series of students archaeology fieldworks on sites dated back to Paleolithic and Mesolithic periods. Her research interests include Stone Age Archaeology, Human Evolution, Cultural Heritage Management, and Rock Art.

Since 2014 she serves as an expert in the sphere of archeological expertize to Cultural Heritage Management Department at the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of Kyrgyz Republic.

Aida also is a Head of the Naryn Archaeological Project (NAP) at UCA. This project aims to conduct a complex research of archaeological complexes on the territory of UCA Naryn Campus dated back from Mesolithic Age through Middle Ages.
