Writing and Reading Poetry with Raphael Dagold
Before coming to teach at AUCA, Raphael Dagold was teaching at the University of Utah, where he got his PhD in Creative Writing and Literature. Raphael is also a practicing poet, with his first book of poetry published in 2014.

Fulbright Specialist Anita Walz Visits AUCA
From April 19 to May 1, 2017, AUCA Library hosted Ms. Anita Walz, Open Education, Copyright, and Scholarly Communication Librarian at Virginia Tech.  Ms. Walz came to AUCA under the Fulbright Specialist Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State.

‘Reimagining Civil Society in a Period of “Uncivil Societies” Conference at AUCA
On March 24 to 25, 2017, the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, hosted the conference ‘Reimagining Civil Society in a Period of “Uncivil Societies”. Out of dozens of submitted abstracts, 20 works were selected to present at the conference.

The Department of International and Comparative Politics organized crisis games for high school students from Bishkek. The theme of the game was the conflict in Syria.

Tinatin Osmonova: “I'm very motivated to do more interesting research to travel a lot, and to meet new people”
Tinatin Osmonova, an Economics Master’s student at the American University of Central Asia. After graduating from the AUCA’s Economics Department last year, she decided to stay at her Alma Mater and do her best to continue being a good economist. In April 2017, she participated at the Sixth Annual Smolny International Student Conference where she presented her undergraduate thesis work.

Young Leaders’ Association Club has recently started working among AUCA students clubs. This club aims to empower youth’s critical thinking, to boast youth engagement in social activities, to develop leadership potential of youth, and to promote the tolerance of diversity and global citizenship ideas.
