Course Description
The Department of International and Comparative Politics considers internships as an important opportunity for students to apply their theoretical knowledge in practical setting, acquire additional knowledge and skills relevant to the field of ICP. ICP department grants academic credits for a completed internship given all relevant requirements listed below are properly met.

Introduction to Political Studies
Course Description
This course is designed to provide an introduction to the study of politics. It focuses on the political systems and governmental institutions which are functional in the contemporary world. Through lectures, discussions, readings and various assignments students are expected to get familiarized with the following concepts: power and its dimensions; the state, its role and functions; constitutions and legal systems; political ideologies and political culture; political parties and other political institutions.

Last week, Assistant Professor Rafael Dagold, Coordinator of Academic Advising Barbara Verchot, and PR Director Dinara Orozbaeva visited the Osh Humanities Pedagogical Institute (OGPI) to hold a pedagogy workshop with OGPI teachers and a creative writing workshop with OGPI students.

The WARC Celebrates Its Fifth Birthday
We are happy to congratulate the Writing and Academic Resource Center on this anniversary. For five consecutive years, the WARC has provided free, one-on-one tutoring in writing, mathematics, economics and financial accounting to the AUCA community.

The American University of Central Asia (AUCA) provides consulting services to individual entrepreneurs, companies and organizations in Kyrgyz Republic through a university Business Clinic. The target group of AUCA’s Business Clinic is entrepreneurs and small organizations, mainly operating in Bishkek.

The AUCA Outdoor Club had its first expedition
This past weekend AUCA's newest club, the AUCA Outdoor Club, had its first ever expedition – and what an expedition it was!
Lead by two of this summer’s Eco Leadership Program (ELP) Alumni, students from the AUCA Outdoor Club attended the Trekking Union of Kyrgyzstan’s annual ‘Meeting of the Tourists’ in Kegeti Gorge to show off their Outdoor Skills and compete in trekking and camping competitions against students from four other Bishkek Universities.

On September 7-11, 2016, Peg Peoples, the Associate Vice President for Education Initiatives at the Bard Institute for Writing & Thinking, visited the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) to meet and conduct workshops with faculty and staff members. She visited NGA, the WARC, FYS, GenEd, and talked with directors, faculty, and tutors.
