Today, on September 1, by Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, film director, screenwriter Bolotbek Tolenovich Shamshiev was posthumously awarded the highest degree of distinction "Kyrgyz El Baatyry - Hero of Kyrgyzstan”.

TCMA, with the administrative and financial support of CASI, will hold a forum on Central Asian Cinema from 18-20 June to showcase the skilled filmmakers currently working at AUCA and to impart lessons of theory and practice to student filmmakers in the Kyrgyz Republic and Central Asia

On March 31, AUCA's Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) organized a field trip for a tree planting activity in Elm Grove (Карагачевая Роща), event was attended by President Jonathan Becker and VP/COO Chyngyz Shamshiev.

On June 17, Murat Aliev -distinguished cinematographer of the Kyrgyz Republic, winner of the Toktogul state prize, died at the age of 72 after a serious illness. AUCA administration and community express the deepest condolences to Nariste Alieva on the death of her father. Nariste is a graduate of the AUCA journalism program, who later worked as a faculty member of the department.

On June 4, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic presented letters of commendation to universities and broadcasting companies that took part in shooting video lessons for schoolchildren in the framework of distance education.

The Program “AUCA Afghan Scholarship through the U.S. Embassy Kabul 2019” will allow the students to study a year at the New Generation Academy and 4 years of the Bachelor program, 5 years in total. 

On Tuesday, November 12 the Inauguration of President of the American University of Central Asia and the annual initiation ceremony for freshmen students took place at the Kyrgyz National Philharmonic named after T. Satylganov.

On Saturday, October 26, the grand opening of the AUCA Technical School of Innovation was held. This is the only educational institution in Kyrgyzstan and region that provides an opportunity to receive an education equivalent to university programs after the 9th grade of secondary school. 

On Wednesday, October 16, AUCA Vice President Chingiz Shamshiev met with the Head of Career Center of Narxoz university Gaini Mukhanova and Director of the Economics college under Narxoz university Sanat Sataev, accompanied by representatives of the Narxoz college to discuss cooperation opportunities between the Technical School of Innovation AUCA and Narxoz college.
